Motherhood Series: Liz

“I want to cry.”

There are no words sweeter to me as a photographer than these. That the images we have created together speak to you in such a way. This is especially true in motherhood photography. There is a special bond a mother has with her babies, one of tender love and grace. The relationship between Liz and her boys is no exception.

This Boerne family session was incredibly special for me. I first met Liz at BRCC/Montechema when she was pregnant with her second son and we were fast friends. I got to photograph her and her boys about a year later, just before that sons first birthday at the Cibolo Nature Center here in town. And we have made it almost I have been so lucky to witness Liz’s journey into motherhood and her two perfect boys grow up.

From the mouth of Liz:

What is motherhood to you?

For me motherhood is a lot of things. Happiness, laughter, crying, worry, love and joy. It means the world to me that I get to go about life with my two best friends. It has been so fun watching the grow into little humans. Everyday I am like where did the time go?!

What is your sweetest memory of being a mom?

My sweetest memory as a mom has been sitting on my back porch watching my boys run through the yard screaming and laughing while they play with the water hose. There is something so peaceful and perfect about just watching your kids be kids. It is what I want to remember.

How did you feel looking at the photos?

I was amazed when I opened the gallery. I remember how wild and crazy the boys were and I did not think they would turn out! It was crazy, when I opened the gallery I felt so much joy and love. I loved that the photos reflected the boys as they are: crazy toddlers. Our life isn’t perfect and they aren’t angles 100% of the time, and the photos reflect that in such a beautiful way.

Do you have any advice for moms wanting to do motherhood photos?

Don’t stress out!! Just have fun with it! Laugh and dance and let the kids be wild and crazy! You’ll cherish the memories forever! Haeley does an AMAZING job at getting the shot.

I am so thankful to Liz for trusting me and letting me run with the black & white vibe for the gallery. The images have such a sweet and sentimental feeling that color cannot express in quite the same way. Don’t worry all you color lovers out there, I still added in color renditions of some of our favorite images at the bottom.
