This engagement session was another one of the last I photographed before officially stepping into maternity leave in 2023.
We started this beautiful session at The Kendall, a timeless boutique hotel right on the plaza in downtown Boerne, Texas. It’s one of my favorite locations for engagement photography because it offers that perfect blend of charm, architecture, and Hill Country elegance. The textures, the light, and the way the couple melted into each other—it was pure magic.
After a slow, quiet stroll through the plaza (with just the right amount of golden hour light), we wrapped up the session at their family’s private ranch just outside Boerne. There’s something so sacred about ending an engagement session on land that holds history and meaning for the couple. It brings a depth to the images that you can’t recreate anywhere else.
As a Boerne engagement photographer, I always aim to tell stories that feel real—not overly posed, not perfect, but full of connection. And this session was all of that and more. The comfort between them, the ease, the way they laughed in the back of the truck as the sun slipped behind the trees—it reminded me why I do this work. Even with a baby belly, sore feet, and my own season of transition coming fast, I left that evening completely filled up.
Looking back, it feels so right to finally share this session now. After two babies (one born in 2023 and one in January 2025) and a beautiful pause to focus on motherhood, I’m slowly stepping back into my role as a photographer with a fresh lens and a full heart.
