One of My Last Shoots Before Maternity Leave — A Couples Session in Boerne with Their Two Dogs

As I reflect on the whirlwind of the past two years—growing our family, welcoming two sweet babies (one in 2023 and another in January 2025), and stepping away for a tender season of motherhood—I realized there were a few favorite sessions that never made it to the blog. This is one of them.

This couples session, tucked into the golden light of a warm Texas evening, was one of my last shoots before officially starting maternity leave in 2023. It was simple, genuine, and so full of love—and not just between the couple. Their two dogs stole the show more than once, as pets always do, and added the perfect dose of playful chaos and unconditional love.

There’s something so intimate about photographing couples with their dogs. It tells a fuller story of home, companionship, and life shared. As a photographer in Boerne, Texas, I get to capture so many different chapters of love—and this one felt especially grounded. The kind of session where everything just slows down for a moment. You breathe it in and want to hold it there.

That evening, I remember thinking how lucky I am to get to do this—to witness the beauty in the ordinary, the quiet connection between people and their animals, and the laughter that bubbles up when you least expect it.

Even during my time away, I carried sessions like this one close to my heart. I snuck in a few sessions here and there during maternity leave—ones that felt right and aligned with the season I was in. Slower-paced. Presence over perfection. And honestly, I’m so grateful for every one of them.
